Oldřich Janota’s civilization mantras

In September 2020, the Concept Art Orchestra set out in a new, fresh direction. In a modified instrumental line-up with added vocals, he joined forces with the legend of the Czech underground, Oldřich Janota. His Civilization mantras, arranged by Luboš Soukup, were performed on Czech Radio, which recorded them in its archive.

Oldřich Janota contributed to the joint project with the Concept Art Orchestra with his playful and sometimes slightly provocative texts, which he called the mantras of civilization and in which he reflects on current cultural, social and ecological challenges. The unifying motif for the whole concert is then the theme of indigenousness.

This time, the Concept Art Orchestra performed in a different cast than the traditional big band – in addition to the classical jazz rhythm section (piano, double bass, drums), there are six players wind players and five-member singing group composed mainly of singers from the Skety ensemble. The prominent Czech guitarist David Dorůžka is also a guest on several songs.
